Counselling where your whole story is welcome.
For Black, Indigenous and People of Colour, the weight we carry isn't always visible to others — and it isn't always understood in the counselling room. You shouldn't have to explain your culture, your family, or your experience of race before you can start to heal.
As a Jamaican Canadian counsellor, I offer a space where your identity isn't a side note. It's part of the conversation, and part of the strength you bring to it.
What we can work on together
Racial stress, microaggressions and discrimination at work, school or church
Cultural and racial identity — including growing up between cultures
Intergenerational and family expectations
Anxiety, burnout and the pressure to "work twice as hard"
Trauma, including racial trauma
Faith, belonging and finding community
Life transitions, immigration-related adjustments and feeling "othered"

My approach
My work is culturally responsive, trauma-informed and strength-focused. That means we honour the resilience in your story, not just the pain. Together we'll draw on evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and existential therapy — shaped around your values, your background and what matters most to you.
You don't have to share my background to work with me. What matters is that you feel seen, safe and respected.
Who this is for
Individuals, couples, families, youth (12+) and young adults who identify as Black, Indigenous or People of Colour — or anyone navigating questions of culture and identity.
